Virtual Firewall

VirtualRack’s Virtual Firewall is a firewall instance running independently and dedicatedly for a given customer, protecting his own Virtualised Servers hosted in the VirtualRack. The Virtual Firewall has a user-friendly GUI Interface.

The Virtual Firewall platform supports tools for packet filtering, traffic monitoring and management. In addition, it provides VPN support to allow a remote user to connect securely to his VirtualRack, and manage the Virtual Firewall and Virtual Servers over an encrypted connection.

The Virtual Firewall's default packet filtering policy allows traffic from the interior network to flow through it to the outside network. At the same time it allows only a very restricted set of incoming connections. This implies three classes of restrictions:

  • Public Network
  • VPN traffic
  • Local (internal) Network

VirtualRack’s Virtual Firewall provides a host of security features, as available on physical firewalls :

  • Web interface (supports SSL)
  • Serial console interface for recovery
  • 802.1Q VLAN support
  • Stateful packet filtering
  • Block/pass rules
  • Logging
  • NAT/PAT (including 1:1)
  • IPsec VPN tunnels
  • PPTP VPN
  • Static routes
  • DHCP server and relay
  • caching DNS forwarder
  • SNMP agent
  • Traffic shaper
  • SVG-based traffic grapher
  • Firmware upgrade through the web browser
  • Wake on LAN client
  • Configuration backup/restore
  • Host/network aliases

VirtualRack’s Virtual Firewall is provided at a low monthly cost of Rs. 4,000 per month
